Department: Music Theory, Composition and History

I would be honored to serve a second term as your union president. We are not too far from the next contract negotiations, and I believe that keeping our team intact and building on our strengths is vital, particularly given the difficult position of a collective bargaining unit at this moment in time.

In my first term, I have been able to

- effectively steer an incredible team of union leaders through the union's first ever strike with the lowest level of strike-crossing in the system; - renegotiate a promotion policy that gives more credit for the scholarly and service work that our faculty do; - build a solid working relationship with local management in a way that has resulted in changes demanded by faculty; - increase full membership in the union; - work with state APSCUF to forge relationships with state politicians; and - work with other shared governance groups to better integrate and define our roles within collective bargaining.

With your support, I hope to continue advocating for faculty to have safe working spaces, to be involved in shared governance and be treated respectfully, and to work towards a better contract.

Sincerely,

Mark Rimple President WCU-APSCUF
