Department: Music Theory, History and Composition

I am respectfully seeking your support for the office of APSCUF Local President. I hope to lead the campus through the upcoming contract negotiation while working to improve solidarity and equity across the colleges.

I feel that my wide experience across campus and my work in local union leadership has prepared me well for this position. I am currently finishing my first term as CVPA TeP representative - a role that has allowed me to view the impressive accomplishments of our faculty across the institution. I have served on the Executive Council under the last two Presidents in the role of Recording Secretary (2 terms), Corresponding Secretary, Vice President, and elected At-Large Member to the Executive Committee. I have chaired the local Meet and Discuss team and have run campus elections. I have also served on numerous other committees including Faculty Senate and several terms on the former University Faculty Development Committee.

I believe that a faculty that communicates and shares information efficiently between its various bodies is preferable to one with pockets of strong leadership working in isolation. The former can speak in unison, while the latter is divisible. I plan to work on these relationships honestly and with respect in order to strengthen our union. If I receive your support, I would be honored to serve in this capacity.

Mark Rimple, Professor
