Rules for the Election
Cristóbal Cardemil-KrauseDepartment: Languages and Cultures Service for APSCUF is one of the most meaningful one can fulfil at WCU. I have served in the past as Alternate State Delegate and for the last two years as State Delegate and a member of the Meet and Discuss Committee. This work has only reinforced my commitment with the work we do. I'd be honored to continue to be serving in this capacity. Tina Chiarelli-HelminiakDepartment: Interdisciplinary & Academic Success Prg Greetings everyone! I seek your support to serve a fourth term as a WCU APSCUF State Delegate. Over the past two years, I have served as a Legislative Assembly Arrangements Co-Chair. In this role, I coordinate statewide meeting logistics, but more importantly, build community among union members and staff who serve us at the state-level. With your support, I would like to continue in this role as we move through negotiations and into our next contract. Thank you and be well! Randall CreamDepartment: English Our union faces challenges across the state, challenges that sometimes resemble those we face here at WCU and sometimes appear quite unique. Legislative Assembly provides a forum for us to work together, across campuses, to solve common challenges and help address unique problems. I've been honored to serve our campus as a State Delegate or Alternate since 2018 and I would appreciate your support in continuing this important work. Claire DenteDepartment: Undergraduate Social Work APSCUF is our collective voice, and advocates for equity and justice for faculty AND for our students. APSCUF is our professional family, and APSCUF is there for us when we need support. I believe it is important to give my time to APSCUF so that our APSCUF family can be there to support any of us when needed. It has been an honor to serve our WCU faculty community as an APSCU State Delegate. I appreciate the opportunity to continue this service for our WCU community. Thank you. Kim DoanDepartment: Dept of Special Education I am a professor in the Dept of Special Educ--College of Educ. I’ve been the dept rep since my first semester here and have sat on the statewide scholarship committee for 10+yrs. I’ve taken on more leadership roles with APSCUF the past few years incl sitting on WCU’s Executive Committee and representing WCU on the Legislative Committee. As a state delegate the past 2 ½ years, I have learned more about the system at the state level and APSCUF’s role in advocating for all of us. I would like to continue in the role of state delegate to ensure the needs of the WCU faculty body are represented in all discussions. I hope you will allow me to represent you for another 3 years. Thank you! Wei DuDepartment: Economics and Finance I have proudly served as a Delegate/Alternate for two terms, as well as a Department Representative for five years. I am humbly requesting your support for my third term in this role. Thank you for your consideration and support. Christy HicksDepartment: Special Education I have been a state delegate for several terms, and I ask for your support as I seek another term. As WCU's Grievance Chair, I believe it is important for me to work with, learn from, and build relationships with representatives from other chapters at the legislative assemblies in order to better my work on WCU's campus. I appreciate any consideration, and thank you for your support. Clifford JohnstonDepartment: Mathematics As a State Delegate, I will serve on behalf of the WCU faculty to keep APSCUF focused on those activities that will continue to build solidarity. I have served many years as State Delegate and local Corresponding Secretary. The coming negotiations will be a challenge for the union, and WCU faculty will need strong voices in the assembly. As a State Delegate, I will use my experience to support our local delegation and leadership. Seth KahnDepartment: English Except for one term off in the early 2010s, I've served as a delegate to the Legislative Assembly since 2005 (I think; maybe even earlier). Over those years, I've developed relationships with members of delegations and leaders across the state; contributed to policy and process changes large and small; served on ad hoc committees of various kinds, including appointments to two new ones just this month; designed, implemented, and often facilitated a New Delegate Orientation; and worked hard to fulfill a delegate's responsibility to both our WCU membership and the statewide organization. I would appreciate the opportunity to keep doing this work. Lisa MillhousDepartment: Communication and Media I have been an active member of APSCUF since 1999, serving in a variety of capacities at the local and state level. It is important to me that we continue to have solid representation from WCU at the state level, and I am committed to making sure we send enough delegates to the State Assembly. Dana MorrisonDepartment: Educational Foundations & Policy Studies I am seeking re-election to a third term as a WCU State Delegate to the APSCUF Legislative Assembly. In my time as delegate I have successfully written and/or advocated for several resolutions that have sought to address issues of family leave, workplace harassment, and racial justice. I've also worked to build relationships across PASSHE schools, recognizing that unions are at their best when we all stand together. If re-elected, I hope to expand on these efforts and continue working for a better state system for all faculty. Dawn PattersonDepartment: Special Education Upon my 2015 arrival to WCU, I have been actively involved in APSCUF, as a Department Representative and then as a state alternate since 2019. While on the Department Rep Council, I also became a member of the Membership Sub Committee. I have been an active State delegate by stepping into my alternate role on several occasions. I am committed to this position as a means to communicate and advocate for faculty within my department, the university, and at the state level. I have found this position extremely rewarding and respectfully request your vote to serve another term. I appreciate your time considering me. Cassandra L. ReyesDepartment: Criminal Justice I have been actively involved in APSCUF-WCU since I started at WCU in 2009, first as a Criminal Justice Departmental Representative, then as a State Delegate, and as the Chair of the Legislative Committee. I have served as a State Delegate since 2012. On the State level, I served on the Legislative Committee Executive Board for several years; I was a Faculty Member at Large on the Executive Council from 2017 to 2019, during which time I served on the Personnel Committee; and I am currently serving my second term as a member of the Statewide Nominations and Elections Committee. If it is the WCU Members' decision, I would be honored to continue serving APSCUF-WCU as a State Delegate. I thank you in advance for your support. Chris StanglDepartment: Political Science I have been a state delegate for most of my 17 years at WCU. I find it to be valuable and meaningful service. As we work to agree to a new CBA, I would be grateful to have the opportunity to be a state-wide delegate hearing directly from our colleagues throughout the state system. Julie WiestDepartment: Anthropology & Sociology Please consider me for a second term as an APSCUF state delegate. I have found the last two years in this role to be rewarding and important service, as I have learned more about state-level APSCUF and PASSHE, participated in crucial decision-making during difficult times, and cultivated relationships with colleagues across the system. At the local level, I have been a department rep for 6+ years, and I previously served on the Meet & Discuss team and as a (non-voting) member of the Executive Committee. I understand the value of our faculty union and the challenges we're facing, and I would be honored to continue representing WCU-APSCUF at the state level.
