Rules for the Election
Clayton GarthwaitDepartment: University Libraries Hello! I am very interested in continuing to serve as a delegate to the APSCUF State Assembly. I wish to continue the solidarity built over the last 2 years. Over this period I have joined other APSCUF members on a bus trip to Harrisburg for a rally, served as Department Representative (alt.), attended every Legislative Assembly and Department Representatives Council and supported many APSCUF campus activities. Please consider me an eager and experienced candidate willing to represent every WCU faculty member as we continue to work towards a fair and stable work environment. Thank you. Michael MalcolmDepartment: Economics and Finance Thank you for taking the time to consider my nomination. I have previously served a term as an alternate delegate (2014-2016) and as a full delegate (2016-2018), and have attended every legislative assembly since Fall 2014. I really enjoy the work and would appreciate your consideration for another term to continue making contributions to APSCUF and to continue serving the WCU community. I have always aimed during my tenure for a two-way flow of information -- Attending the assemblies gives me lots of information to bring back to our campus community; at the same time, I strive to represent WCU interests at the state level. I have accumulated a good roster of contacts with colleagues at other PASSHE schools. At the moment, I am working with representatives from other campuses on the establishment of a permanent strike fund as a contingency for job actions in the future. I helped to coordinate WCU's strike fund for the Fall 2016 job action (raising more than $40,000!), and doing so underscored for me how important it is to institutionalize something more permanent. Another term would give me the opportunity to see this project to fruition. In my view, business / economics is an important perspective at the table for APSCUF work. In particular, I have a substantial background in game theory and some research on the bargaining process, and would like to get more heavily involved in the negotiations process. I also was involved with the home-grown union representing grad assistants as a graduate student at UW-Madison, especially with a job action there in 2004. Again, thank you for considering my nomination for this important position. Created and copyrighted by Clifford Johnston, 2000-12 |
