Department: Undergraduate Social Work

This is my second term serving as a State Delegate for APSCUF. I am honored to serve WCU faculty in this capacity and to represent our faculty at the state level. I have served as a strike captain in the Fall 2016 strike and am currently the Chair of our WCU APSCUF External Organizing Committee. I am grateful for your support to continue serving as an APSCUF State Delegate!

John Elmore

Department: Professional & Secondary Education

I have served the union in multiple capacities throughout my twelve years at WCU - for ten of those years I have served as a state delegate. Those who know me can attest to how passionate I am about public higher education generally and, more specifically, the critical role of shared governance in maintaining public higher education as democratic imperative. I believe we are existing in a time in which these values - and perhaps even the very concept of a public good - are more at-risk than at any other time in our modern history.

I would welcome the opportunity to continue to serve my WCU colleagues as a state delegate.

Department: Special Education

In my 6 years at WCU, I have served one term as a state delegate, and I am currently serving as an alternate. I'm a member of local Meet & Discuss, and I am a member of the statewide Bylaws committee. I am committed to supporting APSCUF, and I would be honored to continue to represent each of you at the statewide meetings as a delegate. I have attended meetings and rallies with our colleagues across the state and have joined them in standing up for what is right and just for all of us. I appreciate your consideration and support. Thank you.

Cassandra L. Reyes

Department: Criminal Justice

I am an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice in my eighth year here at WCU and I have been serving as a State Delegate for APSCUF-WCU since 2012. Since I was first elected to this position, I have attended and participated in all State Legislative Assemblies that have been held, in addition to the Strike Workshops in Harrisburg, with the exception of one Legislative Assembly in September 2015 due to a family emergency. Also, I have been serving as the APSCUF-WCU Legislative Committee Chair and have attended all of the State Legislative Committee meetings since I was appointed to this role during the fall 2014 semester. In this capacity, I have also been serving on the State Legislative Committee Executive Board since 2015. In addition, I was previously the Criminal Justice Department Coordinator-Center City, which allowed me to take the WCU Philadelphia campus-specific issues to the local and State levels to be addressed. I also served as the Criminal Justice Departmental Representative to APSCUF-WCU from 2009 to 2014 Currently, I am running for one of the State APSCUF Faculty Officer-at-Large positions so that WCU can be represented on the State Executive Council. I would like to continue to serve the WCU Faculty in the State Delegate capacity as and I am very dedicated to making sure that our voices are heard on the State-level, especially as we enter another contract negotiation period. I thank you all in advance for your continued support in this endeavor.

Department: Chemistry

Dear Colleagues, Experience bears out that, as a faculty and a union, we always face challenges; seemingly now more than ever. So, I ask for your backing so that I can continue to advocate for you as an APSCUF delegate. Together we are always ready and able to stand up to the call. I appreciate your support.

Cheryl Wanko

Department: English

Dear colleagues: I am asking to represent you by continuing to serve as a WCU APSCUF state delegate. The strike taught me a lot about the importance not only of campus- but also state-wide action in order to safeguard faculty and student rights in our public higher ed institutions. As one of your state reps, I will continue to ask questions that matter to WCU at the state level and to build connections with others across the state to make sure our efforts to protect public education are well-coordinated.

This will be my third 2-year term. I also currently serve as local and state PR chair. I would appreciate your continuing support: thank you for considering my candidacy.
