Rules for the Election
Ann Lieberman ColganDepartment: EDS - Pre-Major Academic Advising As a long-time member of the WCU community - undergrad, 12 years in the LARC, 7 years as an adjunct Pre-Major advisor, and now as a TT advisor- I feel fortunate to be in a position to demonstrate my support for APSCUF, which has already done so much for me, by running to be an Alternate State Delegate. In addition, my more than 20 years on campus familiarized me with the issues and constituents involved, and my work in Pre-Major provided specific knowledge about the academic requirements of departments and the changing political and academic environments. Kim DoanDepartment: Special Education Before I came to WCU, I was a K-12 teacher in an active union in California and represented my school at district-wide meetings for many years. I have served as a department representative every semester since my first semester at WCU (Fall 2008). I have served as an APSCUF representative to the “Special Services” committee (tasks such as to examine the rubric used for scholarships and to choose APSCUF scholarship recipients) for 3 years which met when state delegates met. I ask for your support as an alternate for state delegate. Susan Christy HicksDepartment: Special Education I served as a state delegate for the past two years and found the experience to be both enlightening and rewarding. As an alternate delegate, I will continue to represent West Chester University at the state level, when called upon, as I have for the past two years. Coming into a negotiation cycle, I believe it is important to have consistent representation at the delegate meetings, and I can provide that as an alternate. At state meetings, I have spent the past two years building relationships with other WCU delegates and those from other campuses. I appreciate your consideration. Joel M. RessnerDepartment: Chemistry I have been a delegate to the APSCUF State Legislative Assembly for about 25 years. My main focus during these years was academic policy and retirement (I served as Chair of the APSCUF State Retirement Committee). I did not run for delegate again this year in order to allow younger faculty to move into positions of responsibility within APSCUF. I am still greatly interested in the work of the Legislative Assembly and would be happy to serve if called upon. I ask your support for my continuing efforts to serve APSCUF and my fellow faculty.
